Established in 1863, the Dunedin Botanic Garden is the oldest in New Zealand. The Dunedin Botanic Gardens is an excellent place to either get married or have your wedding photographs taken, year round. The different levels of the gardens offer a diverse range in styles of photos from the fabulous upper gardens rhododendrons, daffodils or tulips in spring to the roses in summer at the lower gardens. There is a large canopy of gigantic trees that also provide the perfect backdrop and shelter during the rain or wind. The romantic flowing grasses in the upper gardens provide a simple but effective backdrop as do the large rocks of the lower gardens wall. There is also the beautiful duck pond and chinese garden. The scope for photos is endless, the location is central to just about everything. All enquiries regarding having your wedding ceremony or photographs taken at the gardens should be made to the Dunedin City Council, ph 477 4000.
